My 3-Day Weekend

It's that dreadful Monday morning and I'm sitting here wondering where my three day weekend went (had Friday off for Kamehameha day...glad to be Hawaiian...lol). Thursday seemed SO long to end while Friday, Saturday AND Sunday went by with a blink of an eye.
Hmm...Friday started at 4am, yup, 4...Jaylen had an All-Star baseball tournament and we were hosting the visiting Kauai team...my contribution to the potluck...FORTY cups of rice. Rice was done, Jaylen and Jarrod was ready, Jaymason was dragging out of bed as usually, and for some reason, I don't remember get myself ready...lol. Get to the field, set-up, wait patiently, game starts, game ends, we win, we eat, we sit, and now it's Jaymason's turn. We load up the truck and head to UH for a football camp. We park, we sit, we wait, OH, he checks-in, and he's on the field. Chatter here, chatter there, trash talking, cheering, grumbling, yelling, all done...time to go home...with a BAD migraine. Get home about 7ish, take a hot shower, pop my pill, lie down, let's call it a night...
Saturday...oh, can get up a little later, no potluck but Jaylen needs to be at the field at 6:30am...ok, Jaylen, Jarrod and myself is good to go, and Jaymason was dragging out of bed again...grr...drop off Jaylen and Jarrod, go back home because I forgot something, oh, Starbucks, back to the field, game time, Jaylen's starting pitcher, umpire behind the plate is blind, coaches on other team are ignorant, oh and they decide to prove my point, love it, we win, we eat, we sit and again, it's Jaymason's turn now...but now, my migraine decides to come earlier...okay, I go home, send Jarrod and Jaymason off to UH, I shower, I wash the laundry (Jaylen plays on Sunday too-I LOVE WHITE BASEBALL PANTS), oh wait, Jaylen is home with me...ooops...hahaha...oh, and now he's hungry (he should've went with his dad...haha)...okay, hmm, dinner...I know, order pizza! Laundry done, all folded, pizza chic comes, we eat, we lounge, Jarrod and Jaymason come home (it's 8:30pm already) and I call it a night...
SUNDAY...I sit there wondering why in the world am I up by 6am...grr...ok, time to catch up on my foodnetwork channel...yay! Oh, mini drama starts, I end up going to visit Ehu (oh, and my parents...lol)...oh, bathe dogs, wash screens, I sit, I eat, I play with the dog, get a phone call, and now gotta leave. Pick up Jaylen and Jarrod, drop them off, come back home to pick up Jaymason, and we're off to UH...Jaylen's team loses, Jarrod's upset, Jaymason is doing good, I'm happy I decided not to go to the baseball game, and now it's time to go home...I eat, I shower, I'm ready to go to bed and the door opens...oh, the boys are home...oh well, I'm about to call it a nite after a little pep chat with Jaylen...zzzz...the end, the weekend is done...is it Friday yet?

The Way You Lived

Just thought I'd share the lyrics from one of my favorite songs by Point of Grace...I think this should be my 'to do' list!

Wake up to the sunshine with your windows open
Don’t hold in your anger or leave things unspoken
Wear your red dress, use you good dishes
Make a big mess and make lots of wishes
Have what you want but want what you have
And don’t spend your life looking back

Turn up the music, turn it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
‘Cause you won’t regret it
Looking back from where you have been
‘Cause it’s not who you knew, and it’s not what you did, it’s how you lived

So go to the ball games, and go to the ballet
Go see you folks more than just on the holidays
Kiss all your children
Dance with your wife
Tell your husband you love him, every night
Don’t run from the truth ‘cause you can’t get away
Oh no
Just face it and you’ll be okay

Turn up the music, turn up it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
Cause you won’t regret it
Looking back from where you have been
‘Cause it’s not who you knew, and it’s not what you did, it’s how you lived

Wherever you are, wherever you’ve been
Now is the time to begin

Give to the needy, and pray for the grieving even when you don’t think that you can
Cause all that you do is bound to come back to you
So think of your fellow man
And make peace with God, and make peace with yourself
Cause in the end, there’s nobody else

Turn up the music, turn up it up loud
Take a few chances
Let it all out
Cause you won’t regret it
Looking back from where you have been
‘Cause it’s not who you knew, and it’s not what you did, it’s how you lived

That Great Opportunity

So, Friday was the Kamehameha song contest, and we actually went…yup, Jaymason’s best friend gave us his tickets so we had to go to support him and Jaymason’s former classmates (although Jaymason did not don the color green).
Of course, if you’ve attended, it becomes a show down of class spirit, class pride, and class bragging rights. Everything that is given out represents your class color (Orange-Seniors, Green-Juniors, Purple-Sophomores, and Red-Freshmen)…SO WE, Jaymason and I, had a bright idea…
My son was given that great Kamehameha opportunity in 2007, when he started his high school days as a Freshman, and he loved it. But, as the years went by, he decided to forego that great opportunity to attend Castle High School. With this being his first year as a Knight, he accomplished a lot more than he ever would have as a Warrior. And although he left his Kamehameha opportunity behind, he always kept in touch with his friends. So, as we were brainstorming about gifting ideas, we decided on leis…Maroon and Gold (Castle colors) leis…hahaha…
So as the classes sang their songs, I sat there making yarn leis. I got looks, smirks and this ignorant parent behind me made a comment that went something like this:
*daughter: mom, I thought their colors are Blue and White…is it Blue and White?
*mom: yes, you are right…each class has a different color but (in a much louder tone as if she was talking straight to the back of my head) Kamehameha’s school color IS BLUE AND WHITE…
Oh, I turned slightly and was about to tell that bitch off…you know, basically, if you don’t know my story or my son’s, then keep your sorry comments to yourself because in the end, his TRUE friends appreciated the leis! We didn’t even have to tell them the reasoning…They were like, you representing the Knights, but you’re still a Warrior. They know they have that great opportunity, but they also know my son has one too…True friends are hard to find, and I’m glad my son found his!!

Happy St. Pattys!

About seventeen years ago, I was stuck in a predicament where I had both legs strapped up and a pain SO excruciating that I cannot even describe. I was stuck on my back wondering when the hell is this ordeal going to stop since it lapsed into a good forty-eight hours. People were instructing me to rest, but of course, my stubborn ass did not want to listen. Instead, I chose to lie there and watch cartoons, (I think it was Tom and Jerry…haha) to pass the time. And then it came…the word was given…it was time, but, I wanted to go to sleep…hahaha. Stuff was thrown here and there, lights were flashing by, and then the semi-counting began…one, two, three, four, five, six, um, oh my gosh, oh, um, ugh, um…yup, that’s how it went until I screamed that I was waiting for the number TEN (damnit)...and then I heard it, the number ten…I don’t know how long this went on but all I could see was my dad who held me tight and Jarrod, who almost passed out. And then it was over, I received a St. Patrick’s Day gift. My healthy baby was born weighing in at 8lbs. 6oz (the smallest of my three), with 10 fingers, 10 toes, and 1 boto…yup, it was the birth of my first son and second child So on this day that people celebrate their Irish traditions, I celebrate the birth of my son, Jaymason Lee. Happy Birthday Son!!

Monday, Monday

There are so many of us who look forward to Friday every week since it's the start, for most, of the weekend. It's the day to drink away all the drama caused from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and prepare you for the two days of freedom for your cubicle. But does anyone ever realize that although Friday is a good thing, Monday is right around the corner? Monday is that day when people have to go back to their assigned jobs to earn the buck. Monday, that day when people who over did their weekend, go into work to sit and complain. Monday, that day when people are trying to get through that eight hour assignment to get closer everyone's best friend Friday. And the sad thing about it is, we've been through this week after week and it seems that no one understands that Monday isn't really a bad day if you make Sunday the day to stop and enjoy the life around you...and honestly, don't use Monday as a scapegoat...pack your crap and find another job!
